My name is Trina Slade-Burks. Formerly of New York city, the Bronx to be exact. Now residing in West Palm Beach Florida. I am a mother of two and a wife. And I am an artist and art advocate. Five years ago we almost lost our house due to my husband first losing his job, and then becoming sick. It literally took me four years for us to get out of foreclosure. Fought with the bank literally every day. My fellow artists hosted a huge fundraiser. The money collected allowed us to be able to save our house get out of foreclosure and start our life over. During that process artists from all over the county reached out to us to help. Some even told us how brave we were. Little did I know that there were many artists who went through similar situations and were unable to save their homes. In that moment I realized that this situation is bigger than we are. We are starting a program that advocates for artist in our community, which will allow for them to be self-sufficient and also help them in emergency situations. #foapnation
