This is an Indian wedding ceremony of Divya, the bride and Selva, the bridegroom. They are finally married after 7 years of love. The wedding was held at Cameron Highlands Murugan Temple and was attended by many people. And to get married officially, the bride and bridegroom needs to take seven steps together around the sacred fire. This is one of the seven steps taken by the couple together around the sacred fire. A presence of the priest is very important in a wedding as they will conduct the wedding until the end of ceremony. The bride and bridegroom will have to walk around the sacred fire or more precisely circle the fire seven times with a garlands of flowers around each other’s neck with the priest chanting. By walking around the holy fire they are agreeing to these 7 steps. With each step, they throw small bits of rice into the fire after each blessing and finish one round. That act represents prosperity in their new life together. The fire plays an important role in a wedding especially in a Indian wedding. The fire or Agni represents the divine presence as a witness of the ceremony. Commitments/loyalty made in the presence of agni are made in the presence of God.
