Studying is the typical afternoon pastime of a veterinary student. It consumes so much time that your non veterinary school friends and family feel like you are avoiding them. Family and friends have a difficult time understanding the magnitude of knowledge students must absorb to obtain their licence. They may pressure the student to visit or expect them to maintain the same level of availability they had prior to advanced education. The social pressures from family and friends and the students' desire to please everyone and excel academically help perpetuate burnout.
