THE BIG BUDDHA OF CHIANG RAI AND THE WAT HUAY PLA KUNG

Built by the Thai-Chinese community of Chiang Rai, the Wat Huay Pla Kung is a typical Chinese pagoda in the shape of a decagon, of 9 levels or plants crowned the last of them with a giant wooden Buddha statue of 25 m high, unique in the region. To access the Pagoda you have to climb a spectacular staircase with dragon shapes. In the same precinct, but on its other side, there is the newly built Big White Giant Buddha. To access the interior of the figure and be able to climb to its viewpoint we must take an elevator. Once in the viewpoint, the views of the city and its surroundings are simply incredible.

The entrance to the complex is free except to climb the Big Buddha. The elevator ticket is 40 bth per person. Visiting hours are from 8 am to 6 pm
