The Grand Canyon, also known in Spanish as the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, is a colorful and steep gorge excavated by the Colorado River in northern Arizona, United States. It is located for the most part within the Grand Canyon National Park (one of the first natural parks in the United States). The Grand Canyon of the Colorado was declared Patrimony of the Humanity in 1979 by the UNESCO.
