Scarecrow stands up to winter's unexpected visit
An unexpected snowfall poetically frosts the forest. Winter's monochromatic shades are as powerful as a rainbow's glory!
Evergreen wears white
Winter visits Fall
Intense competition in the sky... Clouds versus blue sky.
This cute little moth posed for a shot whilst examining an ornamental pepper plant. To my surprise my proximity didn't seem to intimidate it in the least.
A cloudy sunset but still intense.
Am I sweet or what? I know I'm cute... It's undeniable.
These "billow clouds" resemble breaking ocean waves in the sky.
Playful magenta blossoms reach above the feathery greens of phlox and create a delicate silhouette growing in front of spring green shades of an arborvite.
A mature white ash tree from below. Majestic and commanding, fall reveals its sinuous growth.
A fiery sunrise makes the perfect backdrop for the otherwise sleeping forest that goes unnoticed. The stark contrast is mesmerizing.
Glorious sunset over the western horizon framed by a mature pine.
Nature's brilliant pallet not to be outdone by the most talented of artist's brushstrokes.
The giant leopard moth is well named. This spotted moth lends a touch of the exotic to the north east. He was posing on the brick face of my house just under the light sconce where he spent the night.
A morning view of the valley below. The morning fog hangs low.
The delicate orchid tendrils of liatris stand in sharp contrast to the sturdy stem in which they are nestled comfortably.
Winter moving into the valley below
A beautiful blonde... All dressed up and no place to go! This Rosy maple moth decorated the brick front but not in vain as it's beauty was greatly appreciated.
Independence day... Fireworks over the valley as the sun sets and the smoke settles.
Monarda or the "butterfly bush" gets its name for very obvious reasons. Our graceful, winged summer visitors can't resist the compact, cushiony heads bursting with color and aroma that beckons to these Great spangled fritillaries!
The Autumn woods is set ablaze by the waning sunset. A welcome and fleeting spectacle the grand finale excites before dormant trees rest through the winter months.
Strike a pose. You can't teach "cheesecake".
Beauty in the back yard. This beautiful butterfly "fluttered by" to admire the Commander in chief lillies briefly before settling on to the neighboring blooms.
Kitty stealthily crouches in the tall grass unseen by his unsuspecting target. A butterfly perhaps, he is the mighty hunter.
Nature's king of the insect world, the praying mantis is to insects as dolphins are to fish... Animated, interactive and conscious of it's environment. Truly majestic.
It's not often the sky displays such texture as to emulate tufts of cotton tucked snuggly into the deep azure of the sky. These cirrocumulus clouds against the sky offer a picture worthy moment.
The moon on a cold winter night illuminates the surface of the snow with an enchanting display of ice crystals sparkling like diamonds.
The beauty of this sunset even attracted this crocodile from the clouds but before too long he faded away into the evening sky.
The beautiful red mop heads of "ruby Slippers" oak leaf hydrangea are highlighted by the surrounding summer shades of green in the garden.
Icy cold morning
