The Rainbow's Promise . Driving home from a family reunion in the Texas Hill Country, my family and I were hit with flash flooding and then treated to this rainbow.

This little white-banded crab spider (Misumenoides formosipes) was hiding among the beautyberries (Callicarpa americana).
A bold jumping spider (Phidippus audax) that I caught in a jar in order to relocate her outside. Note her brilliant iridescent chelicerae.
A common paper wasp (Polistes exclamans) exploring a green briar leaf (Smilax bona-nox).
A giant swallowtail butterfly (Papilio cresphontes) feeds on frostweed (Verbesina virginica) flowers.
We knew at least one of the Cope's gray tree frogs (Dryophytes chrysoscelis) was the same individual because he had a mark on his back. By the time I removed him from my mother's bathroom this time, he was beginning to get habituated to humans.
My hand holds up a cluster of yarrow (Achillea millefolium) in full bloom so that it can be easily photographed.
A crab spider (Misumenoides sp, likely m. formosipes) on a Maximilian sunflower (Helianthus maximiliani). These spiders can change from white to yellow to blend in with the plant they live on.
I always get so excited when I see my Chickasaw plum trees (Prunus angustifolia) begin to blossom, because they are the very first trees to bloom in spring.
This was just one of many bird's nests I have seen while hiking in the woods on my land.
A lovely yellow garden spider (Argiope aurantia) stretches out in her web and waits for prey to come to her.
One of my favorite fall prairie flowers, Texas gayfeather aka Texas blazing star (Liatris punctata var. mucronata) always puts up brilliant spikes of purple that reach 1-3 feet tall.
This tiny bird's nest was hanging in the branches of a beautyberry bush.
The brilliant fuchsia berries on this beautyberry bush (Callicarpa americana) are just beginning to get ripe.
Booboo, my mixed breed puppy, rests on the porch and looks up at me happily after a walk.
The white berries of the roughleaf dogwood (Cornus drummondii) are very unique and eye-catching.
