The eagle's wings have 17 feathers,
The eagle's tail has 8 feathers,
The fur under the Shield has 19 feathers,
Feathers on the neck have 45 feathers.
The total number of feathers on Garuda birds symbolizes the day of Indonesia's independence day (17-28-1945 or 17 August 1945).

Ribbons on the eagle's legs
The eagle's legs are gripped tightly by a ribbon that curves upwards where there is the inscription "Bhineka Tunggal Ika". Bhineka Tunggal Ika is a sentence taken from the book Sutosoma by master Tantular master a great poet in zamankerajaan Majapahit. The singular Bhineka Ika means "Different remains one" which means that although the unitary state of Indonesia consisting of various ethnic, artistic, linguistic, adat and religious tribes but one nation with one culture, one language and one country that is The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Garuda Pancasila bird as a symbol of the country is designated as a symbol of the state in Government Regulation no. 66 year 1951 dated 17 October 1951. While the use of pigasila garuda birds as a symbol of the country is regulated in Government Regulation No.43 of 1958.
